I have to admit I haven’t gotten a chance to play with this yet, but if I’m reading this right, the Google Font API seems to one day solve the internet-age-old problem designers have when they want to use a font that most people don’t have. Although for now it looks like the available fonts are limited to these.
Here’s the browsers which support those…
The Google Font API is compatible with the following browsers:
- Google Chrome: version 4.249.4+
- Mozilla Firefox: version: 3.5+
- Apple Safari: version 3.1+
- Opera: version 10.5+
- Microsoft Internet Explorer: version 6+
The Google Font API is not currently supported on iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Android.
Sounds like everyone but the freak browsers.

This is awesome! No comic sans, WTF!?
Yeah definitely a step in the right direction but with all the browser out there each with their one policy it will be a very long time until you can use this in a commercial project.
The font quality is not that great compared to showing fancy fonts as images. You can see live examples and code snippets here: http://tips4php.net/2010/06/spice-up-your-site-with-google-font-api/
