This is cool to see, caricaturist Dennis Zilber is getting some serious attention today from Digg today . Dennis was MAYBE going to do a tutorial for us a while back, but I think he’s moved onto bigger (more lucrative). Nice guy though… So uh, whats the deal with the happy trail below. Guy or girl? You can click the pic below to see much more of Dennis’s stuff.

The geek in me can’t resist showing this off, and I didn’t even watch Voltron as a kid. I think I was more into GoBots. The toys were so much easier to change forms. There gorgeous pieces were done by Andree Wallin, check out his DeviantArt gallery for more. And click the pics below to supersize ‘em.
Many CartoonSmart students are familiar with Adam Smithmada’s work because I’ve used images of his paintings in many tutorials, and now he’s got a ton of signed prints for sale on Etsy. And they are only $30! Of course, no one needs to know you only paid 30 for these beauties. Most art prints of this quality sell for $100 on up, but Adam told me he’s letting these go cheap to get them seen by as many people as possible. And speaking of which, for all of you in the dating scene, “wanna check out my art”, is the new “wanna come in and have a cup of coffee”. Start the art tour in the living room, and be sure you have at least one piece in the bedroom.
Also Adam is a great friend, rising star in the fine art world, and Iraq War vet, so I’d love it if you guys would check out his work. Click the pic below for his Etsy site, or here for his main website.
These fantastically crazy postcards were done by Franco Brambilla. From what it sounds like, he uses existing postcards. Fun stuff. There’s quite a few more here.
Hop over to Active Tuts for this interview with Adam Salsthman, big time game developer. Its a quick interview and has some interesting bits about Actionscript 3, for example, he thinks its very similar to Objective C ( which Xcode uses for making iPhone apps). After spending a few months with Obj C, I’d definitely agree.
And why would I share this juicy info with you anyone before the auction closes? Well, I already own 8 or 9 Smithmada pieces, so instead of being an art hog I’ll pass on this one. Actually, the hog in me did bid $300 and already got outbid. Its still just $310 though, so if anyone wants to step into battle, I’d love to watch what happens. Any of Adam’s work for under $1000 is a great deal, so if you want to start a serious art collection with a strong piece, this is a beautiful one…
Just got an email from Martin Hekker from FightEvilWithEvil.com, who wrote and illustrated this amazing comic series. And aside from how awesome the comic is, the presentation is excellent too. Pull and drag left to navigate through the comic. Okay, that doesn’t sound cool. But I like it a lot more than the page flip effect that a lot of web comics use. Try it out. Each issue has a soundtrack and wiki too.
Drawn.ca (another great art blog) had this linked up yesterday, and I’ve got to pass it on like the ultra-spliff it is… Nuthin’ But Mech, nuthinbutmech.blogspot.com. Even the name is cool. They feature, (can you guess? ), lots of ROBOTS!! Here’s a couple to whet your mecha-ppetite…
