A new CartoonSmart student’s game hits the App Store.

Congrats to Marcel at Proba Studios, his first kid’s game looks terrific (and it’s in HD)!  The goal is to help Henry (the cool red fish) not get eaten by the lesser-cool baddies.  Marcel emailed me with something I didn’t realize (although probably could have assumed), which is that to support HD graphics on the [...]

Another student app makes it to the store!

Alright seers, CartoonSmart student Gabriel has gotten a great looking new app into the store! Congrats. Hopefully he used his own app to foresee a future where this sells well. Good work!

Hot-key for adjusting the stage size in Flash (and another student piece hits the App Store)

I just noticed this in Flash, and maybe its not new to anyone but me, but if you adjust the stage size by typing in a number in the Properties window, then hit Enter, and do NOTHING else, but starting hitting SHIFT and the UP or DOWN key, you’ll bump the stage size plus or [...]

Another awesome student gets an iPad book in the App Store

Longtime student Elliot did the programming on this great book below, and if you listen close you can you hear me patting myself on the back… my humble Cocos2D tutorials helped him out. Obviously the virtual ebook part gave him some useful code. Speaking of which, I’m planning to record an overview tutorial of that [...]

Student Works! An app and an entire website of Flash goodies.

Diane Cipollo just got her fantastic free app approved, Dracula’s Guest,  which was packaged up from Flash CS5.5-to-iOS.  So thats great news for anyone else publishing an iPad book using Flash. She added lots of animation and sounds, and remember that is key. Your App reviewer needs to see that your book has some interactive [...]

Some great student work and pinball update!

First off, I got an email today from Arthur, a past student with a very cool portfolio site. He says I had a small part in getting it going, so naturally I’ll take 100% credit for his terrific site. Click below to check it out… And for anyone wondering when the heck my Actionscript 3 [...]

A CartoonSmart Student Presents Panda Rampage

And after playing Panda Rampage,  we disavow all knowledge of ever teaching Martin. Just kidding, it is a fun, gory game for sure. Check it out…

Some Excellent Student Work and BTTF!

This excellent (and lengthy) piece comes from Wayne Wilson who animated it in Toon Boom Animate Pro. Hey wait, don’t have some new tutorials for Animate here. What a timely post this is =) Also this Back to the Future game can’t go unmentioned. The character designs alone make it worth a looksie.

Merry Christmas (and some Christmas student work to go with it)

MERRRRRY Christmas everyone! Anyone else watching A Christmas Story this very second (the leg-lamp just got broken over here) So here’s some Christmas-related student work to show off. Check out this Santa puzzle App that Jan-Willem created. And like all the best apps in the store its under a buck!
